Sherwood Blount
Sherwood Blount Jr. was a Dallas real estate developer that was caught paying college football players in the 1986 Southern Methodist University football program. SMU Players were being paid out of a "slush fund" from different boosters which resulted in the NCAA giving the SMU program the "death penalty" by completely canceling their 1987 season. Sherwood Blount was subsequently banned for life from contributing to the SMU athletics program.
